The National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) was launched across the country for providing integrated comprehensive Primary Healthcare Services, especially to the poor and vulnerable sections of the Society.
The Mission aims at bridging gaps in rural healthcare through increased community ownership, decentralization of the programmes to the district level, inter-sectoral convergence and improved primary health care. It also seeks to improve access of rural people, especially poor women and children, to equitable, affordable, accountable and effective primary healthcare.
